On September 5, 2023, the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, headed by Director Jang Byeong-tae, unveiled its ambitious initiative aimed at fostering the growth of aspiring entrepreneurs in the content sector. The program, aptly named the 2025 Content Startup One-Stop Package, is designed to be a comprehensive support system for prospective content creators in Ulsan. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the region’s efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship within the rapidly evolving field of content creation.
This year’s program is being launched through the Ulsan Content Business Support Center, which has been recognized as a hub for cultivating emerging talent in the industry. Ten promising startup teams specializing in next-generation content fields, including character design, video production, metaverse applications, and extended reality (XR), have been selected to participate. These teams successfully registered their businesses in Ulsan in August, showcasing their commitment to establishing a foothold in the local ecosystem. The chosen companies include (주)픽메타, 상상장수, 영감한숲, (주)후즈에그, 토우두, 영픽, 프로젝트공일시, 솔라리스원, 유워크투게더, and 넥스트리얼리티.
Over the course of approximately four months, the Content Startup One-Stop Package will offer participants a robust framework designed to enhance their capabilities as entrepreneurs. The program includes comprehensive business diagnostics, specialized training in entrepreneurship, and personalized one-on-one consulting sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of each startup. By conducting a final evaluation, the program will identify exemplary companies and provide them with opportunities to access funding for prototype development through the 2026 Content Prototype Production Support Project, thereby facilitating their growth at every stage of their journey.
The success of the previous year’s initiative, the 2024 Content Startup One-Stop Package, is a testament to the effectiveness of such support structures. Last year, nine startups emerged from the program, and these companies have actively engaged in product development, secured positions within the support center, and leveraged additional resources for their ongoing projects. Notably, some of these startups have made significant strides in attracting initial investments and securing intellectual property rights through patent and trademark registrations, resulting in tangible business achievements and job creation.
These success stories underscore the potential for establishing a virtuous cycle within the regional content startup ecosystem, indicative of a growing trend toward sustainable entrepreneurship. The Ulsan Content Business Support Center is committed to broadening its support offerings, which include not only content production assistance but also overseas exhibitions, marketing collaborations, and resources for securing intellectual property rights. The center provides essential incubation spaces and equipment to ensure that local content enterprises can thrive.
A representative from the Ulsan Content Business Support Center emphasized the importance of helping participating companies navigate the uncertain early stages of entrepreneurship. “We will spare no effort in providing practical support for business realization, ensuring that the content startups born in Ulsan can become a driving force for the overall competitiveness of the South Korean content industry,” they stated with conviction. This commitment reflects a forward-thinking approach aimed at nurturing talent and fostering innovation within the region, ultimately contributing to the broader landscape of the national economy.
